New Delhi: Indian Railways have announced that train services will operate according to their normal schedules on Sunday, October 11, following cancellations and rescheduling on October 9 and 10 amid security restrictions linked to the Cockroach Janata Party’s (CJP) planned protest in Delhi.

The Railways had cancelled Mail and Express trains scheduled to arrive at New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin stations between 4 am and 2 pm on Saturday, October 10. The restrictions applied to trains that departed their originating stations after 2 pm on October 9 and were scheduled to reach either station during the specified period.

The decision followed intelligence inputs and traffic advisories warning of severe congestion around the railway stations during the proposed demonstration demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Several trains cancelled or rescheduled

Separately, several trains operating between Indore and Delhi were cancelled, while the Rajdhani Express and August Kranti Express were rescheduled to run five hours late due to operational reasons, Ratlam Division Public Relations Officer Mukesh Kumar told ANI.

Kumar said three trains associated with the Indore area — train numbers 20155 (Dr Ambedkar Nagar–Indore), 09309 (Indore–New Delhi Special) and 12415 (Indore–New Delhi Express) — had been cancelled. The Yuva Express to Delhi was also cancelled.

The 12951 Rajdhani Express and 12953 August Kranti Express, scheduled to depart from Mumbai Central, were rescheduled to run five hours late. Kumar said passengers with confirmed reservations would receive full refunds.

Mumbai–Delhi Rajdhani cancelled

Separately, the Bhopal division of West Central Railway announced the cancellation of train number 22221, the Mumbai–Hazrat Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express, on October 9 due to operational reasons.

The railway administration expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to passengers.

Passengers travelling on October 11 are advised to check their train status through official Indian Railways channels before departure.
